About Brady

He Isn't Telling You About It. He Did It.

Brady McDonald was an overweight father of two who drank too much and had never run a race in his life. The first thing he changed was not his fitness. He got sober.

Then, to prove to himself the change was real, he entered a fifty-mile ultramarathon. He won it, and spent the following days in a hospital bed with rhabdomyolysis. Most people would have given up. He entered a hundred-miler instead, then the Moab 240, then the Arizona Monster 300, a three-hundred-mile crossing of the desert. For years he ran them for himself, and it worked, right up until it didn't.

In the summer of 2026 he attempted what nobody had: a 50K in every American state, on fifty consecutive days, with no rest. He finished in Honolulu on September 12 having run 1,553 miles and raised one million dollars, enough to grant one hundred wishes for children with critical illnesses. His wife and two daughters travelled the entire route with him.

He built and runs a seven-figure business alongside all of it. He speaks about what the transformation actually took, and about what changes when you stop spending your capability on yourself.

The Method

The Zero to 100 Framework

Four principles built across a complete rebuild of a life. From an overweight, drinking father who had never run, to a sober athlete with a world record and a million dollars raised. Every talk is structured around them, so your audience leaves with a method rather than a memory.

One

Change the Person First

The first step was sobriety. The races were never the achievement. They were evidence that the person had actually changed. Goals set by the old version of you get abandoned by the old version of you. Most transformations fail because people attack the outcome and leave the person alone.

Two

Do Hard Things on Purpose

He entered a fifty-mile race not because he could, but to find out whether he could. Difficulty chosen deliberately builds a tolerance that difficulty forced on you never will, and teams that have practised being uncomfortable behave completely differently when something goes wrong.

Three

Ego Has a Ceiling

For years Brady ran for himself, and it worked. Then it stopped working. Self-motivation is real fuel and it is finite, and almost nobody finds out where their ceiling is until they are already past the point of turning back.

Four

Run It for Someone Else

Around day thirty-one everything you started with runs out. The adrenaline, the novelty, the audience. What survives past that point is never a number. It is a person. Brady had a hundred of them, and that is the only reason he finished.

Both talks below are built on this framework and tailored to your theme, your audience and your run of show. Brady works from your brief, not a script.

Zero to 100: Purpose

The Hundredth Wish

Brady set out to run fifty ultramarathons in fifty days to raise a million dollars for Make-A-Wish. He was not chasing a record. He was chasing a hundred children who were waiting. This is the talk about what changes in a person, and in an organisation, when the goal stops being a number and becomes somebody's name.

  • Why teams driving toward a target burn out, and teams driving toward a person don't
  • How to make a goal something other people want to carry with you
  • What it costs to commit publicly to something you might visibly fail at

Zero to 100: Performance

1,553 Miles, No Rest Days

Three years before the fifty-state run, Brady was not a runner. He quit drinking, entered a fifty-mile race on impulse, won it, and woke up in hospital with rhabdomyolysis. Then a hundred-miler, the Moab 240, the Arizona Monster 300, and finally fifty consecutive ultramarathons. This is the talk about what a body and a team will actually do once the mind stops negotiating.

  • The difference between motivation and the decision that makes motivation unnecessary
  • How to build tolerance for discomfort deliberately, instead of waiting for a crisis to build it for you
  • What fifty days without a good one teaches about recovery, pacing and consistency
Built for sales kickoffs, leadership offsites, athletics, schools and universities · 45–60 min keynote, half-day workshop, or virtual

Who He Speaks To

Rooms That Need Something Real.

Brady is not a motivational act. He brings a documented, verifiable story and a point of view that holds up in front of sceptical audiences.

Associations & Conferences

An opening or closing keynote with a story your members will still be quoting at next year's event.

Sales Kickoffs

Consistency, discomfort and showing up on the days nobody's watching. Delivered without the usual clichés.

Leadership & Culture Offsites

What happens to a team when the objective stops being a target and becomes a person.

Endurance & Athletics

Race expos, run clubs, collegiate and professional programs. Brady speaks the language and has the receipts.

Schools & Universities

Students, athletes and staff. A story about starting over that lands hard with people deciding who they're going to be.

From Event Hosts

They Booked Him Again.

Your keynote was not only polished, it was powerful and passionate. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I've spoken to many members since, and unsolicited they've told me how powerful that talk was and how it moved them. That's the most we've ever raised for a charity cause at a single event, $200,000, more than we've raised for any other cause going back a decade plus.

I was fortunate enough to witness Brady's keynote at Boardroom, and it was so impactful that I pulled my credit card out right away and donated $10,000 to Make-A-Wish. There were so many tactical things in there, everything he had to overcome, and then he tied it to a cause bigger than himself. I was tearing up. One of the most powerful keynotes I've ever heard.
